Children's story on homosexuality repeats as most 'challenged!'

It seems that the older I get the more conservative and set in my ways I get.

Over the years I have seen enough bullshit and just plain idiocy that I have less and less patience with fringe groups, special interest groups and all sorts of other wacko's that are promoting a minority viewpoint on whatever turns their crank!

With that in mind let me repeat an article here by the Associated Press that not only makes a good point but is looking more and more sensible as time goes on!

NEW YORK -- A children's story about a family of penguins with two fathers once again tops the list of library books the American public objects to the most.

And Tango Makes Three, released in 2005 and co-written by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell, was the most "challenged" book in U.S. public schools and libraries for the second straight year, according to the American Library Association.

"The complaints are that young children will believe that homosexuality is a lifestyle that is not only acceptable, but normal. The people complaining, of course, don't agree with that," Judith Krug, director of the ALA's Office for Intellectual Freedom, told AP yesterday.

The ALA defines a "challenge" as a "formal, written complaint filed with a library or school requesting that materials be removed because of content or appropriateness."

Other books on the ALA's top 10 list include Maya Angelou's memoir I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, in which the author writes of being raped as a young girl; Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, long attacked for alleged racism; and Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass, an anti-religious work in which a former nun says: "The Christian religion is a very powerful and convincing mistake."

Pullman's novel, released in 1996, received new attention last year because of the film version starring Nicole Kidman.
The one I object to most is the agenda of the homosexual community promoting their lifestyle as not only acceptable, but even preferable.

The gay block has long fostered the lie that 10% of the community is homosexual to make themselves appear more mainstream, while in actual fact the figure is about 2%!

Couple this with the fact that the liberal North American Media actively promotes gay lifestyles and values and we have a serious erosion of morals in society.

Don't get me wrong, I have mostly liberal, left of center leanings on most issues, but there are certain times when the backlash against these special interest groups takes over and I feel compelled to say something.

"The complaints are that young children will believe that homosexuality is a lifestyle that is not only acceptable, but normal."

I don't know how many times in my forty-eight years of living here on earth, that I have heard this statement paraphrased in more forms than there are religions.

Ooh shoot, I forgot to introduce myself:

"Hi, I'm Gregg and I am a happy, well-adjusted, mature, middle-class, monogamous in a reationship homosexual. Yes, I am gay in more ways than one."

Just another anti-homosexual rant to keep the fuels on the flame. I am more surprised in looking at your icon photo where you support AIDS in Africa, that you could be hyprocritical about minorities. What have you done -- disassociated yourself with AIDS worldwide (the statistics keep increasing now in the heterosexual world with this pandemic and for the first time in history has decreased in the homosexual community) and zeroed in on only one group blinding yourself to the real reality of the pandemic.

For historical sake, back in the 1980s when the pandemic swept the world, it was a fact that in Canada and United States, AIDS did enter through the homosexual communities. Yet in Europe at the same time period, the pandemic entered the poulation through IV drug users, bi-sexual men (most who shared needles and then had sex with men and women) and in Africa, we know that it devastated the heterosexual community. So how did the pandemic get such a bad deal in America.? With ideologies printed like the one above. Humans have a dire need to search out and find blame for something, and usually in America it's a minority group.

The gay block, as you stated, say that 10% of the population is homosexual, where the fact is that it is only 2%. What are your basis of fact here, who are you quoting. I see that you have attributed comments about the book, yet there is no attribution to a fact that you say is true but there is no attribution to it. The gay block, as you call it, are using the statistics from studies done by Masters and Johnsons et al since the 1950s when the medical field took an interest in studying human sexuality. That is where I get my 10% quote from, can you show me where your 2% comes from, and please don't quote me a relgious affiliation, I want a medical professional quote.

In listing banned books in America you forgot a few:
Uncle Tom's Cabin
I Have Two Mommies

And this one always irritates me:
The one I object to most is the agenda of the homosexual community promoting their lifestyle as not only acceptable, but even preferable.

Our gay marketing, excuse me, is not directed at people with closed minds like yours. Our gay marketing is marketed towards gay. We are not going around and producing a market targeted at children (which is what your comment subtedly refers bringing up the myth that homosexuals are going to turn your kids gay) it is marketed towards adults who have already been through the religious/social/governmental wringers and survived to live their life in peace like every other human being has a right to no matter what their race, colour, creed, sexuality or religion.

Good luck on the sale of your book-you definately don't have a buyer here for it. I can just imagine the hyprocisy that was written on those pages and wasted a lot of trees in our world for its publicatiopn.

Gregg you have the same problem that all people with an agenda have. Tunnel Vision.
You even defend the 10% myth even though ALL scientific research, not just Masters and Johnsons, points to a 2% rate!!

If you want to be an apologis for the gay community then go ahead, all what I object to is having the gay lifestyle shoved in my face to an ever increasing degree.
