I don't care what religion it is! It's still a dagger!

Quebec can be a little draconian at times with their stupid language laws, distinct society, and separatism, etc. etc.

No one has been able to figure out yet if it is because they are a minority in Canada, or just plain because they are French!

In Montreal, a cosmopolitan sort of town, a dispute erupted after a gym's windows were obscured to block the view of exercising women from the Hasidic Jewish synagogue across the street and pools have been asked for gender-specific swim times to accommodate religious groups.

Men were banned from prenatal classes at a Montreal community centre to accommodate Muslim, Sikh and Hindu women, and a city police publication came under fire for suggesting female officers should defer to male colleagues when dealing with men from certain religions.

However, one little town in Quebec seems to have all its marbles as this piece sent by Dene Moore of Canada Press shows!

HEROUXVILLE, QUE. -- A sign at the entrance of this rural Quebec town says: Herouxville welcomes you.

Unless, that is, you plan on stoning a woman to death, sending your kids to school with a kirpan or covering your face other than on Halloween.

The town council of Herouxville, a sleepy town dominated by a towering Roman Catholic church, has adopted a declaration of "norms" that it says would-be immigrants should be aware of before they settle in this town. Among them, it is forbidden to stone women or burn them with acid.

Children cannot carry weapons to school. That includes ceremonial religious daggers such as kirpans, even though the Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that Sikhs can carry kirpans in schools.

However, children can swim in a pool with other children -- boys and girls alike -- because they can't be segregated.

And for the record, female police officers in Herouxville, 165 kilometres northwest of Montreal, can arrest male suspects. Also part of the declaration is that women can drive, dance and make decisions on their own.

"We're telling people who we are," said Andre Drouin, one of six town councillors and the driving force behind the declaration passed this month.

The small town has only one immigrant family and wants more!

But Drouin said the declaration, which was posted on the town's website and sent to the provincial and federal immigration ministers, is the result of a number of recent culture clashes across the country.

I would love to live in a progressive little town like Herouxville except for one thing! They would probably want me to learn French!

Be Very Afraid!

I submitted a piece to a writing competition at a site called
"Blogcritics," that was a re-work of an older blog that I wrote here on “Let’s get things back into perspective here!”

It was reviewed by someone whom I will assume was an early
“twenty-something” guy who is the product of our “politically correct” college system.

His reply, (although they did publish the article) was that it was a bunch of “politically incorrect, racist drivel!”

Let me present it here again and you decide if it is racist, or it can stand on its own merit. (Comments please!)
Here we go again. Anything that white, middle class, Christian North Americans or European's say about ANY minority is termed racist, bigoted, politically incorrect and just plain wrong.

Things are getting to the point where the whole world is going to slowly grind to a halt.

The latest version of "Political Correctness" took an asinine turn over the last few days when a woman who works in one of the offices of British Airways was told to remove a chain with a cross on it because it was offensive to some people!!!!!!

It's bad enough that someone complained, but what is even more absurd is that the complaint was taken seriously and the woman told to remove her necklace.

If it had of been me I would have considered ejecting whoever complained about the necklace in the first place!

However, put the shoe on the other foot and we're fair game!

*Female students at a new Islamic school in England will be made to wear head scarves regardless of their religion, it was revealed yesterday. The Madani High School in Leicester will be required by law to accept 10 per cent of its 600 pupils from a non-Muslim background. But, girls who are not Muslim will still have to abide by a rule insisting all female pupils cover their heads as part of the uniform.

*Women want to be what they call “equal” to men in every way and yet I’m still expected to hold the door for you and pay for our date! (Now whether we even go on a date depends on the type of car I drive.)

*You are now African American, Mexican American, Asian American, Arab American, Native American, etc., and when you pass me on the street, you sneer in my direction. You call me Whitey, Cracker, Honky, - and that’s O.K.

*But when I call you Nigger, Kike, Towel Head, Sand-Monkey, Camel Jockey, Gook or Chink........... you call me a racist. (Which it is – Allan)

*You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day. You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day, You have the NAACP. You have BET.

*If we had WET (White Entertainment Television) we’d be racists. If we had a White Pride Day you would call us racists. If we had White History Month, we’d be racists. If we had any organization for only whites to “advance” our lives, we’d be racists.

*If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we’d be racists. There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US, yet if there were “White colleges” that would be a racist college.

*In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

*We are no longer allowed to have nativity scenes in front of government or local offices because it might offend Muslim or Jewish or Buddhist people and we can't swear on a bible or recite the Lord's prayer.

*We are no longer allowed to say "Merry Christmas" out of consideration to non-Christians. Instead we have to say "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings!"

*The local T.V. station said they would no longer call it a "Christsmas Tree" but rather a "Feastive Tree" because of the large percentage of the population that is Muslim. (8%)

*A guy here in Canada joined the Mounties and it wasn’t until after he was accepted that the issue of him not being able to wear the Mountie hat, because his religion said he had to wear a turban, came into play.

He knew what the rules were going in but didn’t say anything till after the fact. (By the way, he was allowed to keep the turban.)

I hope you get my point. It’s slowly turning into a one-way street where minorities can condemn, criticize and call the shots, but not the other way around.

Now wait a minute!

Even the Archbishop of Canterbury had to step in on this one and say it was all nonsense.
It's bad enough that someone complained, but what is even more absurd is that the complaint was taken seriously and the woman told to remove her necklace.

If it had of been me I would have considered ejecting whoever complained about the necklace in the first place!

How's that for poetic justice!
