"On the Air"

I spent many of my younger years in radio.

Up and down the dial, etc. You know, just like WKRP in Cincinnati.

Over the course of an all too short career I was fortunate enough to work in Toronto, CKLW in Detroit/Windsor, and CKLG in Vancouver.

Some of the people I admired and tried to emulate were such notables of "Top 40" radio like Cousin Brucie at "77 WABC," New York. Dick Biondie, New York. Bill Bailey, "WLS, Chicago," Wolfman Jack. The Real Don Steele, Robert W Morgan and Charlie Tuna, KHJ Los Angeles. Brother Bill Gable, CKLW Detroit. and John "Records" Landecker, Chicago.

These top 40 Disc jockeys were the hero's of my youth but two people that really made the biggest impression on me were talk show hosts J.P. McCarthy on WJR in Detroit and Peter Gzowski on the CBC.

For anyone living in the Great Lakes area their daily programs provided many hours of thoughtful and provocative entertainment.

All I can say about them is that they were two of the finest radio personalities I have ever heard and today marks the fifth anniversary of Peter's death as well as about the same amount of time since J.P.'s passing.

They will be missed by their many fans!
(Smoking got them both!)

Left, right, left, right! Forward march!

Unlike the U.S. where there are lots of right wing commentators like Rush Limbaugh, the Conservative Right has a rough time of it from the media here in Canada.

Other than the National Post and a few others everything here in the media is Socialist Left, so I am glad to do my part to champion the sensible middle!

TORONTO, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Popular Toronto author, columnist and television host, Michael Coren has been "blacklisted" from appearing on Canada's publicly funded broadcaster, the CBC.

Coren writes in a column in the National Post and the CBC had asked him to appear on a CBC News Sunday political program about the Conservative government's budget and then cancelled him without explanation.

Coren says the CBC cancelled his appearance on the panel because of standing objections at the CBC to "certain conservative, particularly morally conservative, voices in the media." Coren has his own television talk show, Michael Coren Live, on local Toronto station, CTS and a Sunday night show on CFRB.

Despite his support for a number of the left's favourite topics such as the cancellation of third world debt, Coren is cast as a "social conservative" by the only criteria that count in the Canadian media establishment: his opposition to homosexual "marriage" and abortion.

CBC anti-conservative bias has been a topic of conservative discussion for some years. Paul Tuns, author and editor of the pro-life newspaper the Interim, says that it is bad enough that "various conservative groups and individuals in Canada have had informal boycotts of the CBC because of their mistreatment of conservatives." Moreover, a website (http://www.cbcwatch.ca) has been created specifically to catalogue bias at CBC.

Tuns says, "The CBC cannot be trusted to present both sides in public policy debates. Even when there's a panel it will be 2-1 Liberals against Conservatives."

Coren writes in the National Post, "People used to run away to sea. Now they run away to the CBC. Well, at least the ones who don't like freedom of speech do so. The rest of us simply have to learn how to swim. With sharks."

Peek-a-boo

We are still seeing the constroversy over British M.P.'s Jack Straw's comment that women who come into his office should not wear a "face veil." (Niqab, Burqa)

There were three Muslim women on C.B.C. Television this morning who argued the different points of modesty amongst the faithfull.


One was dressed in normal Western style, one had a head scarf and the third wore a "face veil," or Niqab.

The woman who was covered up completely argued that this allowed her to maintain dignity and respect from other men and let her be judged by her intellect and personality rather than on any physical attributes.



She went on to say that it was written in the Koran that she should be covered and that she was in accordance with God's teachings.

The sad fact of the matter is that this poor woman has been sold a bill of goods by the males in her culture and bought into it completely.

First of all, nowhere in the Koran does it say that women should cover themselves with the Niqab, (veil) or Burqa (veil and mesh).

All it says in the Koran is that both men and women should dress modestly and that women should wear the veil over their "bossoms!"

Anything else is a complete fabrication by the males in her culture.

The Middle Eastern "man" is generally a mysogynistic, pridefull, self centered person who is full of himself and his "machismo."

They have a culture that thrives on the exploitation and subjugation of women and will do anything in their power to maintain the "status quo!"

Many years ago someone got the bright idea that not only should women cover themselves modestly, but should also hide behind veils and clothing so that no other man could look upon "his" women (plural too!) in a lustfull way.

They were there for him and no one else!

To perpetrate this myth that females should be covered, men started to tell women that it was "God's will" that they completely cover up to remain pious and faithfull adherents of Islam.

The women, being physically weaker and not in a position to object, were made to comply!

Over the years this has once again proved that old axiom; "Tell people something enough times, with enough conviction, they will believe just about anything!
