Spencer Tunick and Borat!

We have all heard of the old maxim that television will always sink to it's lowest common denominator? (Look at Jerry Springer here or Benny Hill in Britain.)

Well let me tell you bunky, it's NOOoooo different on the Internet.

Out of curiosity today I looked at what subjects drew the most readers and response.... and to my surprise, (stupid me) I found out that Spencer Tunic (The guy who photographs crowds of naked people) and BORAT in his bathing suit, outranked any other subject or article by a margin of over 10-1.

Never mind anything about politics, humorous side of life, religion, current events, lifestyle, finances, international or local events, or a host of other things.

Nope!

Just hundreds of naked people or Borat being an asshole!

Thank God I don't do stuff on Britney Spears!

Borat vs the Creationists

A few months ago I looked at some statistics for the type of people who visit this site and much to my dismay, (this was a few days before Halloween) over 50 % of the people that visited "Perspective" logged on to the page that showed "Borat's Halloween costume!"

The mere thought that most of the people who visited the blog came here for stuff like Borat threw me into an instant and severe depression.

Here I was looking for stuff that I thought people would find interesting and instead I learn that well over half of my readers were just looking for the lowest form of humor. On top of it all, it wasn't even that funny a picture and I had serious reservations about putting it on the blog in the first place.

The thought that my blog was catering to "idiots" almost made me quit the whole thing and I had to take a few days off to reflect on what I wanted to do.

After my brief vacation I decided that from now on I would only write about things that I personally found interesting and if other people like it too then all the better. There would be no more catering to the lowest common denominator since most of those people wouldn't get what I was trying to say anyway!

With this in mind I did a survey this week on who believed what in the Evolution/Creation debate

We had found out that Americans believed in Creationism over Evolution by a margin of about two to one. But, my dear readers of "Let's get things back into perspective here" held on to the belief of Darwinism over Creationism by a factor of about three to one!!!!!!!

(It would have been higher but I have a suspicion that the Creationists snuck a few extra illegal votes in. You know, like Bush did in 2000!)

This leaves me feeling rather vindicated that I am talking to a reasonably intelligent and educated audience when I post something on this blog and for that I would like to thank each and every one of you!

Coffee Break is Over.

A much needed break and now down to business. I have been writing this blog with an eye for what readers would like, but then, this week, over half the viewers to this blog are going to an old site I wrote a year ago about "Borat's Halloween Costume!"

I don't think it's really indicative of the general level of readers to this site but for the sake of my own sanity I am going to start writing more of what interests me, and not what I think other people want.

This Borat thing proves that I don't have a clue!

Collectors from around the world are snapping up the Vatican's $8,400 limited-edition volumes of the transcripts of the heresy trials of the Knights Templar, the publisher said Thursday.

The Vatican has produced 800 leather-bound copies of the document collection.

Medieval expert Franco Cardini shows the 300-page volume 'Processus Contra Templarios,' Latin for 'Trial against the Templars.'

Scrinium publishing house, which prints documents from the Vatican's Secret Archives, said sheiks, libraries, individual collectors and cultural organizations have all reserved copies. About 300 volumes remain, said Scrinium president Ferdinando Santor.

Santor wouldn't identify any buyers, only to say they included some "internationally famous" people.

The Vatican work reproduces the entire documentation of the papal hearings convened after King Philip IV of France arrested and tortured Templar leaders in 1307 on charges of heresy and immorality.

I am seriously sitting here considering whether I should just dump this blog!

I have been at it for over a year now and between the humour, the satire, the political comments, the religious observations and everything else that I thought had some relevance and entertainment value I looked at the statistics for viewers to this blog and over the past few days the majority of the people that have hit here are doing so because of an article I wrote over a year ago about "Borat's Haloween Costume!" Give me a break!

Borat in space.

The Expedition 13 crew have returned from the International Space Station to Earth --specifically, the dry steppes of Kazakhstan, where they landed Thursday night local time in a Soyuz TMA 8 spacecraft.

In the NASA image above, from left: Flight Engineer Anousheh Ansari, Commander Pavel Vinogradov and space tourist Borat who accompanied Expedition 13 crew members.

Just a few minutes before this photo was taken, they were extracted from their Soyuz capsule after landing on the Russian steppes.

Expedition 13 was up there for six months, and a NASA report says their tasks included ..."the arrival of two space shuttle missions, resumption of construction of the orbiting laboratory and the restoration of a three-member crew."

They'll now spend a few weeks in Star City, near Moscow, for debriefing, medical exams and rumba lessons.
