Spencer Tunick and Borat!

We have all heard of the old maxim that television will always sink to it's lowest common denominator? (Look at Jerry Springer here or Benny Hill in Britain.)

Well let me tell you bunky, it's NOOoooo different on the Internet.

Out of curiosity today I looked at what subjects drew the most readers and response.... and to my surprise, (stupid me) I found out that Spencer Tunic (The guy who photographs crowds of naked people) and BORAT in his bathing suit, outranked any other subject or article by a margin of over 10-1.

Never mind anything about politics, humorous side of life, religion, current events, lifestyle, finances, international or local events, or a host of other things.

Nope!

Just hundreds of naked people or Borat being an asshole!

Thank God I don't do stuff on Britney Spears!

Saturday Morning Confusion. #12

Let's jump right into the deep end of the pool kids and start with our "Asshole of the Week!"

The trophy and a loud fart go to Dr. Phil McGraw for butting into the Britney Spears thing and trying to make hay out of it for his own personal gain!

"Was it helpful to the situation? Regrettably, no. It was not, and I have to acknowledge that and I do," the talk show host told his audience Thursday during taping of a Dr. Phil episode that will run Monday.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of Britney, why not make her our "Loser of the Day!" (This isn't the first... or last time, kids!)

Britney's movie career is kaput - for now anyway.

Filmmaker Tommy Parker told MTV News earlier this month he was in talks with Spears' camp to sign her on to his low-budget thriller Memoirs of a Medicated Child.

But a rep for the film is now telling the "Perspective" research department; "Even with an accepted $3 million offer on the table and negotiations being finalized, producers decided to can Brit.”

Actor Peter Falk's niece Samantha Falk will replace Spears in the film as the sympathetic girlfriend of a troubled young man.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You remember a few weeks ago when I talked about making a list of things to do before I die, and the list included talking to Rodney Dangerfield about Lenny Bruce but then HE went and died before I could do it.

Well bunky, let me tell you something. This idea caught on so much that Hollywood went and made a movie about it.

Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman star in The Bucket List, a buddy flick in which they leap from planes, drive race cars, eat caviar, motorcycle on the Great Wall of China, and trot by other wonders of the world before they "kick the bucket."

With this in mind, when USA TODAY asked readers about their lists, many had destinations, accomplishments and relationships in mind.

Genny Scott, 49, who works at the county jail in Goldendale, Wash., most wants to "learn to scuba dive and see the Great Barrier Reef in person. I've never been anywhere that the ocean is warm enough to stick your toes in."

She also wants to research her family roots, swim with dolphins and become a nature biologist. One item she's already started: working on a novel, she says. "So that's not totally unattainable."

Wayne Palmer's list is a mix of "fantasies, reality (and) duty."

Like the film buddies, Palmer, 46, an engineering technician in West Allis, Wis., wants to sky-dive. "I just have to lose a few pounds first."

His travel list highlights the last five U.S. states he hasn't visited (Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Vermont) and the Holy Land, to see the sunrise from a mountaintop and to look up an old pal.

Interior designer Lisa Echard, 43, of Taylorsville, N.C., has already checked off items, including riding in a hot-air balloon, "which actually landed, accidentally, in a lake," seeing the Grand Canyon, and accompanying her husband on his life-list goal of visiting Australia.

Still on the list: "Make myself a handmade quilt; see Paris and about 20 other places outside the U.S.; live in the Pacific Northwest, even for just a year to try somewhere different; write a book."

Possibly most important, Echard says: "Find a meaningful way to enrich other people's lives — outside of my own family."

The Rev. Kerry Shook and his wife, Chris, are leading 500 churches nationwide in a program that challenges them to live the next 30 days as if they were their last.

They did the challenge at their church, Fellowship of The Woodlands, in a Houston suburb. Their book on the challenge, One Month to Live: Thirty Days to a No-Regrets Life, is due in stores Feb. 5. It addresses "the big difference between a full life and a fulfilling life," he says.

In their pilot program, people took the honeymoon they'd forgone for 25 years, lost weight, quit smoking and clocked adventures, but most took it to a higher plane, including a woman who forgave the man who killed her son.

"We are all encouraged to leave a small ecological footprint and a huge spiritual footprint," Kerry Shook says.

The Shooks have four teenagers, and the couple's own list included more time and deeper conversations together. "It's the relational shortcomings that most haunt people in life," he adds.
The Bucket List movie ultimately sends its two wanderers to the people, not the places, who matter.

"Find the joy in your life," Freeman tells Nicholson before the credits roll.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is our "Winner of the day!" He's an actor, a producer, a director, a writer.

And now George Clooney has been named an official U.N. "messenger of peace" meaning he'll promote the organization's peace-keeping efforts.

Clooney, who is currently in Sudan, will receive his designation on Jan. 31 at U.N. headquarters.

He's the ninth U.N. messenger -- people chosen from the fields of art, music, literature and sports who have agreed to help focus attention on the United Nations' work.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A new "Star Trek" movie is coming out in December. Here is a sneak peek at the new Enterprise!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And finally for today, put your hands over your ass kids, because that is exactly where you're going to get it from "Big Brother" according to Tech-Dirt magazine.

The U.S. constantly brags about being #1 in everything, when in reality they are being left in the dust and the only thing they lead in is trampling peoples rights and liberties!

Now, there are those who claim the government already has the ability to monitor all internet communications, but it looks like it's about to become official.

National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell told a reporter from The New Yorker that he's prepared a "cyber security policy" that would grant the federal government the right to monitor all Internet communications.

The report also notes that President Bush hasn't yet announced this policy. The reporter from the New Yorker states: "it may be the only way to protect transportation, security, and other critical systems that rely on the Internet."

That is a bizarre statement that seems totally unsupportable. It almost goes without saying, but the old (supposedly) Ben Franklin quote applies: "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

It's also not clear from this report whether this is just a policy or an actual system for monitoring Internet content -- as that makes quite a big difference.

Either way, expect to see more people become a lot more interested in encrypting their communications soon.

Saturday Morning Confusion. #14

I have got to tell you right from the "get-go" this morning that I will be rather busy this weekend.

I just had my dick size increased by 3" and have also taken all sorts of vitamins and performance enhancer Meds that I ordered from Canada, so I will be on the go satisfying women just like the ads say.

If you need me, or are a woman with a need then you will have to get me on my cell phone!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Now, as usual we have more than enough contenders for "Asshole of the Week" so this time around we are going to give the trophy and a loud fart to two people again.

First is Britney Spears for getting herself sent for a psychiatric assessment and loosing custody of her kids

Then we have this piece of shit who actually deserves to win the trophy all by himself.

A Sheboygan, Wisconsin man has been charged with break and enter and felony burglary after sneaking into a toddler's bedroom and stealing $20 from a piggy bank while the two-year-old girl slept.

Authorities say DNA evidence linked Ryan Mueller, 30, of Sheboygan Falls to the crime that occurred Aug. 10. They said the girl's mother was in another room with another child when she saw a light turn on in her two-year-old daughter's room.

She walked into the girl's bedroom and saw a man shaking the piggy bank as the girl slept.

The man fled before police arrived, stealing the money but leaving the piggy bank. (They got him on DNA evidence!)!
----------------------------------------------------------------

Next we are going to add a new category to our awards. This one is the "Loser of the Day," for stuff that happens above and beyond the call of duty or is just plain unfortunate!

Two cleaning women spent two days trapped inside a broken elevator in a Chicago suburb.

Beata Bartoszewicz and her mother, Roma Borowski, entered an elevator in an empty building in the suburb of Niles on Dec. 22. After the elevator doors closed, the women discovered they were stuck on the first floor of the two-storey building.

Bartoszewicz says there was no response from an emergency call alarm and the women couldn't pry open the doors.

Neither had a cellphone or water and the building wasn't due to open until after Christmas.

Two days later, on Christmas Eve, an employee of the building happened to go to work and they yelled for his attention.

He heard them and fire crews freed them an hour later.

The women tried to sleep on their coats and used a corner of the elevator as a bathroom.

Bartoszewicz said her mother continually reassured her.

"She kept saying, 'We're going to be OK, and we're going to spend Christmas Eve at home,"' the 25-year-old said.

Bartoszewicz says the moral of the story is simple: "Always take your cellphone with you."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are also going to give a special "Winner of the Day" trophy to the National Academy of Sciences who on Thursday issued a spirited defense of evolution as the bedrock principle of modern biology, arguing that it, not creationism, must be taught in public school science classes.

The academy, which operates under a mandate from Congress to advise the government on science and technology matters, issued the report at a time when the theory of evolution, first offered in the 19th century, faces renewed attack by some religious conservatives.

Creationism, based on the explanation offered in the Bible, and the related idea of "intelligent design" are not science and, as such, should not be taught in public school science classrooms, according to the report.

"We seem to have continuing challenges to the teaching of evolution in schools. That's something that doesn't seem to go away," Barbara Schaal, an evolutionary biologist at Washington University in St. Louis and vice president of National Academy of Sciences, said in a telephone interview.

"We need a citizenry that's trained in real science."
Evolution is a theory explaining change in living organisms over the eons due to genetic mutations. For example, it holds that humans evolved from earlier forms of apes.

The report stated that the idea of evolution can be fully compatible with religious faith. "Science and religion are different ways of understanding the world. Needlessly placing them in opposition reduces the potential of each to contribute to a better future," said the report.

But teaching creationist ideas in science classes confuses students about what constitutes science and what does not, according to the report's authors.

The report was released by the academy and the Institute of Medicine, which advises policymakers on medical issues. It updates academy publications issued in 1984 and 1999. It was written by a committee headed by University of California-Irvine biology professor Francisco Ayala.

"Biological evolution is one of the most important ideas of modern science. Evolution is supported by abundant evidence from many different fields of scientific investigation. It underlies the modern biological sciences, including the biomedical sciences, and has applications in many other scientific and engineering disciplines," the report stated.
The authors highlighted developments in evolutionary biology, citing its importance in understanding emerging infectious diseases. They noted the discovery, published in 2006, of the remains of a Tiktaalik, a creature described as an evolutionary link between fish and the first vertebrate animals that walked out of water onto land 375 million years ago.

President George W. Bush said in 2005 American students should be instructed about "intelligent design" alongside evolution as competing theories. "Part of education is to expose people to different schools of thought," Bush said.
Advocates of "intelligent design" contend that some biological structures are so complex they could not have appeared merely through natural processes.

A judge in Dover, Pennsylvania ruled in 2005 that the teaching of intelligent design violated the U.S. Constitution, which requires a separation of church and state, because it is based on religious conviction, not science.

A 2006 Gallup poll showed that almost half of Americans believe that humans did not evolve but were created by God in their present form within the last 10,000 years.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

We have a couple of honourable mentions here that would have received trophy's on their own except that it's rather old news by now, but if you haven't heard about it yet, a New York window cleaner who survived a 47-storey fall from a skyscraper last month is making a gradual recovery - in what doctors say is a "miracle".

Alcides Moreno, 37, tumbled some 500ft to the ground in a scaffolding accident that killed his brother. (He rode the scaffold down and that broke his fall somewhat!)

And finally this note from Reuters's News.

Remember the guy from Toronto who is 85 and was charged with street racing for going over 100 mph on the 401?

We have a lady in England who did the opposite.

LONDON (Reuters) - A woman banned from driving for seven days after traveling at speeds of less than 10mph on the motorway told Reuters on Friday: "that road's my nemesis." Stephanie Cole, 58, of Fishponds, Bristol, straddled the hard shoulder and inside lane as she dawdled along a stretch of the M32 near her home last August.

In the back window of the car was a sign which said: "I don't do fast, please overtake."

Cole admitted driving without reasonable consideration at North Avon Magistrates' Court on Friday and was told she would have to take another test at the end of the ban.

"I didn't intend getting onto the motorway, but all of a sudden I found myself on it and I could not get off," she told Reuters after the hearing.

"I just panicked. I hate that particular stretch of road and I avoid it normally. It is my nemesis."

Cole had been traveling from her home to a stationer's when she was arrested in her Perodua Kenari mini people-carrier.

"I thought "thank God" when I saw the blue flashing lights," she said. "I thought they could help and I asked them if they could drive me home."

Cole, who has multiple sclerosis, said she depends on her car for getting around.

"I will try and retake the test," she said.

"I will have to do my best when driving, and hope it is better than it was."

Stuff!

Just a few things that struck me as I was reading the morning papers.

First of all FORD (Fix Or Repair Daily) Corporation is in trouble. They just got knocked out of the number two spot in the U.S. by Toyota and out of #2 in Canada by Chrysler.

On top of that, General Motors is about to loose it's #1 spot in world wide vehicle sales to Toyota this year.

U.S. car makers continue their slide!!!

The troubled life of Britney Spears added a new chapter when the intoxicated pop star was whisked away in an ambulance after police were called to her house to help solve a nearly three-hour custodial dispute involving her young sons.

Late Thursday, police said officers were called to Spears' house around 8 p.m. in a custodial dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline over their small boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Footage from Associated Press Television showed Spears being taken away in an ambulance from her home late Thursday while being followed by dozens of celebrity reporters. Several police cars, their sirens blaring in the middle of the night, escorted the ambulance carrying Spears.

Spears has appeared increasingly out of control the last year. She has been photographed without underwear and appeared to be drunk and out-of-control. She shaved her head, beat a car with an umbrella and spent a month in rehab and has had a handful of fender benders, including one in which she ran over a photographer's foot.

Now, let's all feel sorry for the poor people in Atlantic Canada. The four provinces, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland/Labrador are on the Eastern Seaboard and if you look at a map you see that they sort of stick out into the Atlantic on top of the New England States.

For this reason any winter storm that goes up the coast eventually hits these four provinces and that's where all the snow gets dumped. They actually have more snow than Montreal! (While we here in the sunbelt of Southern Ontario have almost none.)

Anyways, it has snowed out East so much this year that in the cities they have run out of space to put the snow. (And winter ain't nearly over yet bunky!)

They better hope for a January thaw!

To hell in a handbasket, I say!

Is it just me or is the whole world getting nuttier and nuttier. Maybe I am just noticing it more as I get older.

Here is a list of strange stuff I ran across in just the last few days.

1. A teenager suspected of drunk driving plows into an impaired driving checkpoint in Toronto and wipes out 4 or 5 cop cars. Thank God no one was hurt!

2. Officials at Nepal's state-run airline, which has experienced technical difficulties recently, sacrificed two goats to appease Akash Bhairab, the Sky God!
(Remind me never to fly Nepal Airlines again!)

3. Venezuelan officials withdraw a proposal to bar parents from giving their children odd names like Edigaith, Mileidy or Superman!

4. Britney Spears, on top of bombing at the MTV awards, getting dinged for DUI and loosing her kids now has been charged with hit and run for an accident last month!

5. The leader of Al Qaeda n Iraq has offered $100,000 dollars in reward money for anyone who kills a Swedish cartoonist who they say insulted Islam. On top of proving that these fundamentalist have absolutely NO sense of humor, they also seem to have a deep dislike of cartoonists!

6. Amsterdam is spending $21 million dollars upgrading it's red-light district.

7. A Swedish Lutheran church pastor informed a couple due to be married that the bride's father is not allowed to walk her down the aisle because it promotes inequality of the sexes.

8. Alberta, Canada celebrates its first "hunting day" in an effort to get more people out of the house and into the woods to kill things!

9. It was "International Talk Like a Pirate Day" and all day long I had to listen to a bunch of assholes going "ARRRRRR Matey!"

10. Ethiopian authorities plan to kill tens of thousands of dogs before next week's Coptic Millennium celebration. By the way, next week Ethiopian restaurants are having a special on "Dog Soup!"

PETA sure knows how to milk a subject.

I swore I would never let this blog turn into on of those "Celebrity" rags that follows what the stars are doing and so far I have been fairly true to that commitment.

Unless it was something absolutely preposterous about Anna Nicole Smith or anything else equally ridiculous we don't engage in the everyday bullshit of the Paris Hilton's and J-Lo's and Pamela Anderson and Nicole Ritchie, etc.

This piece is about P.E.T.A. doing a marketing job supreme for their cause. It is not so much about Britney Spears as it is about the mileage they can get from running on her coat-tails, or petti-coat or whateve!. (It sure wouldn't be on her underwear, cause she don't wear em!)

She's lost custody of her kids and now an animal rights group wants Britney Spears to give up her pets too...................... A spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said the group's president has written an open letter to Kevin Federline encouraging him to pursue custody of Spears' animals.

Here comes the clincher that will set off all the old ladies and animal lovers......."PETA fears that the dogs may be in danger," Michael McGraw said.

He said PETA is particularly concerned about the welfare of her Yorkshire terrier puppy London, which she takes to nightclubs and shopping malls.

McGraw also said Spears' dogs should be with her sons as they adjust to life with Federline. "The companionship of beloved animals can make a world of difference for the kids during this obviously difficult time."

This is such a load of crap. I would say that McGraw cares about Britney's pets about as much as I do................. but they do make good copy!!!!

Now you know the rest of the story!

OK kids, listen up! After attending the Toronto International Film Festival, I made a quick side-trip to the MTV Awards, and I have to be honest with you, the Britney Spears thing was nothing like they portrayed it on T.V.

It was all the usual hype and bullshit because this, is an actual tape of Britney's performance and will give you a better idea of how things stand with her!
Hope ya enjoyed it!

Sunday Morning Stuff

The Sunday morning paper has such interesting stuff. I just learned that the New Years party Britney Spears was at paid her $400,000(Four Hundred Thousand) to be the hostess for the evening.

So, here we have this blonde ditz(She wore underwear this time) that went to a New Years Party, had a great time, threw up, and then passed out!

For all this she got paid Four Hundred Grand????

Whoever hired her is an idiot!

I could have done that for Ten!

Then we have a French prisoner has confessed to killing his cellmate and then eating part of the man's body, officials said this morning.

Nicolas Cocaigne — who was charged with cannibalism and murder — claimed he stabbed his victim. Thierry Baudry's mutilated body was found this morning by a guard at the prison in the city of Rouen.

Officials immediately gave Cocaigne two "tums" and put him into solitary confinement.

They then issued a press release stating that "Silence of the Lambs" would no longer be shown as Saturday night's movie!
