PETA sure knows how to milk a subject.

I swore I would never let this blog turn into on of those "Celebrity" rags that follows what the stars are doing and so far I have been fairly true to that commitment.

Unless it was something absolutely preposterous about Anna Nicole Smith or anything else equally ridiculous we don't engage in the everyday bullshit of the Paris Hilton's and J-Lo's and Pamela Anderson and Nicole Ritchie, etc.

This piece is about P.E.T.A. doing a marketing job supreme for their cause. It is not so much about Britney Spears as it is about the mileage they can get from running on her coat-tails, or petti-coat or whateve!. (It sure wouldn't be on her underwear, cause she don't wear em!)

She's lost custody of her kids and now an animal rights group wants Britney Spears to give up her pets too...................... A spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said the group's president has written an open letter to Kevin Federline encouraging him to pursue custody of Spears' animals.

Here comes the clincher that will set off all the old ladies and animal lovers......."PETA fears that the dogs may be in danger," Michael McGraw said.

He said PETA is particularly concerned about the welfare of her Yorkshire terrier puppy London, which she takes to nightclubs and shopping malls.

McGraw also said Spears' dogs should be with her sons as they adjust to life with Federline. "The companionship of beloved animals can make a world of difference for the kids during this obviously difficult time."

This is such a load of crap. I would say that McGraw cares about Britney's pets about as much as I do................. but they do make good copy!!!!

Alicia Silverstone goes nude to protect her beaver!

Well, the "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals" are at it again. Alicia Silverstone will appear nude in a television commercial set to debut today in Houston.

The 30-year-old actress, who appeared in movies such as "Clueless" and "Batman & Robin," shot the ad to promote vegetarianism in the spot sponsored by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

In the 30-second ad, which will air about two dozen times in Houston on Wednesday, Silverstone is shown emerging from a swimming pool and talking about the benefits of being a vegetarian. She obscures the view of her body with her arms as she gets out of the pool.

"I wasn't always a vegetarian, but I've always loved animals," she said in a news release. "Physically, the effect has been amazing."

The animal-rights group said it launched the commercial in Houston because the city is often high on lists of cities with unhealthy eating habits. Houston was named the sixth-fattest city in the nation by Men's Fitness magazine this year.

By the way, after PETA converts everyone to veggie burgers the next step will be to make sure we don't step on any bugs on the sidewalk, so watch-out!

I DIDN'T CLIMB TO THE TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN TO BECOME A VEGETARIAN!

Is Michael the Sicko?

PETA has a message for Michael Moore: You’re the Sicko.

The animal-rights group is blasting the filmmaker as a hypocrite for criticizing the U.S. health care system in his new documentary, “Sicko,” because they say he’s in such poor health himself.

(Michael has not done, or said, anything to PETA!)

“There’s an elephant in the room, and it is you,” PETA president Ingrid Newkirk wrote in a letter to Moore.

Newkirk urged the rotund Moore to become a vegetarian, which many nutritionists say is a good way to lose weight, and visit PETA’s Web site GoVeg.com for veggie recipes.

Writes Newkirk: “As they say at Nike: ‘Just do it.”

Peta has a reputation for trying to sensationalize everything, but comments like that about Michael Moore are hitting below the belt. (Whether he has to loosen it or not!)

So, I have this to say to Mr. Newkirk; "Just Kiss It!!"

Your "don't mess with me" scribe;

(Now, I don't think this really applies to Ingrid (!), but you find that a lot of people who go nutso over animals can't really identify with other people because they get "unconditional" love from their pet ........ or they just haven't been laid in a while. One good romp in the hay usually sets their priorities straight again!)
