Woodstock

Since this is Thanksgiving Day weekend here in Canada a few of us from "The Club" got together on Sunday and were shooting the shit about the old days. (We have known each other since pre-school days which now makes it fifty years !)

One of the subjects that came up was "Woodstock" which a couple of us were at way back there in the mists of time.

What brought the subject up was a photo that Glen had taken there of a couple who were in the throes of passion right in the middle of a wooded path down the road from the site. Glen was going to the Ontario Art College at the time and was heavy into photography so naturally he had his camera with him.

The picture he got was more of a work of art than a porno picture since all it showed was a guy's bum in the grass with a knee sticking out on either side.

This pic was the source of endless conversation for several years since Glenn hung it with pride in his living room. Unfortunately, when he met his "now wife" she made him take it down.

I will see if he has a copy that he can e-mail me and I'll put it up here for you!

As for the concert itself, the only thing a can remember for sure is the rain. Never been so fuckin' wet in my life and didn't really care. And the groups........ after all these years the only one I remember for sure is Sly and the Family Stone since I was talking to the guys in the sound booth and they let me listen to the their set over headphones that were plugged into the main mixing board.

There was the group spread out before me and the music coming into the headphones over sixteen track stereo. This burned an impression into my mind that I will never forget. (Fueled by various drugs! On that note, I heard Sly used to be a very sharp guy but that today he has trouble keeping his phone number straight.)

As for the rest of the weekend I can't remember what I actually saw and what I saw later during my many viewings of the movie "Woodstock!" It all sort of melts together, but what the hell, everyone had a great time!

(Here is a picture of me circled in the background and "Bert" from Sesame Street closer to the stage!)
