Kim Jong-ill NOT so ill after all.

Since we mentioned him in the previous article, it seems fair to say that Fearless Leader Kim Jong-ill is not as crazy as we make him out to be. He sure seems to be able to run rings around his contemporaries on the International stage

Everyone thought that North Korea was going to dismantle is nuclear program according to an agreement reached after a bizarre amount of haggling.

(Remember when demands were coming one after the other and changing every other week? But we were finally led to believe that an agreement had been reached, hadn't we Bunky?)

Well guess what kids! (Jong-ill trying not to laugh!)->

The United States on Thursday for the first time admitted it was scaling back its demands of North Korea in a bid to break a diplomatic stalemate on dismantling Pyongyang's nuclear arms programs.

The top Asia hand at the US National Security Council, Dennis Wilder, said North Korea was not "off the hook" on fully declaring its atomic programs, but that proliferation issues would be "handled in a different manner."
(Right!)

On Wednesday, the United States said it was working with its diplomatic partners on a new mechanism to scrutinize any nuclear declaration by North Korea.

The announcement of the new verification measure came amid criticism of a reported prospective deal reached earlier this month between US and North Korean envoys, which caused a great deal of skepticism among experts.

The United States never seems to have heard of that old saying "fool me once, shame on you, fools me twice shame one me!"

I would like to add this; "fool me over and over, and what the hell is wrong with me!"

The G.O.P. is N.F.G.

I don't know what it is with the American people but they seem to be blind to the fact that the Right Wing Republicans are totally out of control.
On top of derailing scientific advancement with opposition to stem cell research and support for creationism at the expense of scientific fact, they also poo-poo (I love that word!) global warming and a host of other scientific endeavours.

As well as these asinine policy and position declarations, the members of the right wing are the biggest "war-mongers" in the history of the United States.

Iran was attacked for no other reason than its oil, and relations with Russia have deteriorated to the point of a possible resumption of the "cold war!"

In a debate in New Hampshire, where the country's first primary will be held next year, they were largely in agreement on an issue that President George W. Bush considers vital -- preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

Iran insists its nuclear program is for civilian use only, but Republican candidates for U.S. president agreed on Tuesday that Iran must not develop atomic weapons even if a tactical nuclear strike is needed to stop it, and accused Democrats of being soft on the issue.

Democratic candidates had their own debate in New Hampshire on Sunday and largely agreed the United States should open direct diplomatic talks with Iran on the nuclear issue. Giuliani said it sounded to him like "Democrats were back in the 1990s."

A second-tier candidate, California Rep. Duncan Hunter, was more direct, saying the United States reserved the right to dissuade Iran militarily.
"I would authorize the use of tactical nuclear weapons if there was no other way to preempt those particular centrifuges!"

"You shouldn't take any options off the table," said the leader in the Republican pack, former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, when asked whether a tactical nuclear strike might be necessary.

But, as a small minority, Texas Rep. Ron Paul, a candidate drawing about 2 percent in opinion polls, opposed a nuclear strike on moral grounds and because he believed Iran was no threat to U.S. national security.

"We, in the past, have always declared war in defense of our liberties or go to aid somebody," Paul said. "But now we have accepted the principle of preemptive war. We have rejected the just war theory of Christianity."

Fireworks also briefly erupted over the issue of immigration.

A Senate proposal backed by Bush has been angrily attacked by conservatives who consider the legislation an amnesty plan for 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States.

McCain backed the legislation as necessary to resolve what he called a "national security problem," but in perhaps a reflection of the deep conservative unease with the bill, he admitted that "this isn't the bill that I would have written."

Giuliani called the immigration plan a "typical Washington mess" that was the result of a compromise between competing interests.

"It's quite possible it will make things worse," he said.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney avoided a face-to-face immigration spat with McCain who accused him of pandering for votes by calling the legislation a silent amnesty. "He's my friend," Romney said of McCain.

But he said the plan would allow "every illegal alien" to remain in the United States.

Gee, I wonder if the means Mork will have to go too!

The West Blinked!

In the game of political brinkmanship you can score one for the Iranians. (Actually two.)

The hijacking of 15 British sailors by Iran was nothing more than a test to see what the reaction in Britain and the West in general would be. Unfortunately we failed miserably.

Instead of a quick and decisive response, the powers that be waffled and negotiated away a top Iranian official that had been in Iraq conducting insurgencies.

Not being able to follow the same "no bargaining, only response" position of Israel, the Western powers emboldened Iran and the end result is that they now feel more confident of getting away with their nuclear program.

As a result, Iran announced today that it is greatly increasing it's development of nuclear technology, confident in the fact the we are just a "Paper Tiger!"

North Korea resolves frozen funds by barter!

The United States and North Korea have resolved a dispute over $25 million US in frozen North Korean funds in a Macau bank that threatened to hold up nuclear disarmament negotiations, U.S. official Paul Glaser said Monday.

Under a deal signed on the weekend the funds would be bartered, rather than just paid out.

Kim Jong-il is to receive ownership of Michael Jackson's former Neverland ranch with the balance to be paid in hookers!
(Kim Jong-il's son and grandson.)

According to informed sources, both sides in the dispute seemed well satisfied with the arrangement and Kim plans to put his son and family there permanently to keep them out of trouble.

"We believe this resolves the issue of the DPRK-related frozen funds," said Glaser, using the acronym for North Korea's formal name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

HEY YOU!

Let your faith guide you, just be careful of which direction!

Of course politics can be just as irrational as faith. Don't beleive me? GO HERE for an example of just how screwy some people can become about stuff they passionately beleive in.

End Game

PYONGYANG—Frustrated that its megalomaniacal outbursts no longer inspire fear and panic in the international community, the nation of North Korea detonated all six of its nuclear warheads early Thursday morning, killing 32 million in what international observers are calling "a pathetic bid for attention."

"This is very typical and melodramatic," South Korean President Roo Moo-hyun said yesterday. "North Korea has been 'acting out' for years — decorating its country with provocative posters, never leaving its borders, and getting aggressive with those closest to it."

Mr. Moo-hyun went on to say; "It has been this way ever since they were ostracized from the international stage."

UN officials are advising nations who feel self-destructive to speak to allies or even counselors rather than taking drastic steps like North Korea.
