HELLO! HELLO!
Skype has just announced unlimited long distance calls anywhere in the world for less than ten bucks a month.
That's right, for $9.95 a month you can phone anyone, anywhere, anytime for as long as you like.
To give you an idea of how much the world has changed, my parents tell me that just 50 years ago, (a mere half century) if you wanted to phone the "old country" you had to phone the long distance operator in Montreal and "MAKE AN APPOINTMENT!"
They would then phone you back at the appointed time to tell you a line was available and you have 5 or 10 minutes to talk. Then they would charge you a fortune!
Even air travel has changed dramaticaly since half way back to the Wright Brothers.
We flew to Europe in 1958 and had to fly from Toronto to Montreal, where all International flights left from, and then on to Gander, Newfoundland.
This is where the plane was gassed up for the flight across the Atlantic which ended in Shannon Ireland, because it was the closest point on the other side.
From there (And a day later) Europe was at your doorstep bunky! My how things have changed!
