A while back (2006) there were 18 alleged "Terrorists" arrested in Toronto for plans to blow up the Canadian Parliament Buildings, kidnap politicians, bomb public monuments and the TTC subway!
From the news reports at the time it sounded as if these guys were going to destroy Canadian society and bring our way of life to it's knees.
(OK boys, roll to the present!)
Now we are starting to get a whole different "Perspective" on what really went on with these "TERRORISTS!"
First three of them were released for being minors and lack of evidence and now another four have been released this week with no explanation other than the courts would not proceed with cases against them!
We now have about half of them released and one of the last four has made a statement that the "Terrorist Training Camp" they were supposed to be attending was in fact a weekend of "Paintball!" (This means me and my kid and are terrorists too!)
We now are faced with a situation where 11 terrorists are sitting behind bars and there are a whole lot of red-faced politicians and cops and spies etc. etc.
Personally I don't doubt that some of the guys left in custody will eventually be found guilty of some half-assed plot, BUT, what really disturbs me is this!
These people have been held for close to two years in a prison, in solitary confinement, and for most of that time did not have access to a lawyer of even had charges brought against them.
They were held under a "security certificate!"
As in the States, our rule of law was thrown out the window because of the knee jerk reaction of the authorities.
We let a guy called Mahar Arar be abducted by US authorities and then gave false information about him. This caused him to be sent to the Middle East to be tortured.
They also kept some other guy, whose name escapes me at the moment, in jail for five years on the same certificate without charges......... before being released!
(On a side note, things are so bent out of shape that during this same time we had a bunch of cops in Toronto charged with corruption and they just had their lawyers delay the proceeding for six months...... and then got off because they were being denied their right to a "speedy trail!")
Terrorism is a threat that has been grossly over hyped (In spite of 9/11 etc.) and the average person on the street would be more likely to get hit by lightning than die in a bombing or other act.
However! Let's get something back into perspective here, if the terrorists objective is to cause panic and confusion in our general society then they have succeeded magnificently because there is something seriously wrong here!

Let's get things back into perspective here!
I get so downhearted when I run into people like the guy on the previous post.
I have, as one of my major flaws, very little patience with ignorance, (the classical ignorance, as in lack of knowledge) prejudice or intolerance.
This guy that wrote me a sweet little love note about my book that rambled on for sentence after sentence with utter disregard for grammar or logic. I got a whole lot of dogma that I am not even going to attempt to argue against, since first of all, not all that much of it made sense anyways, and secondly he is so mired in his ways that nothing I could say would have any impact on him.
The only thing that really caught my eye was the statement that Jesus had such an im-pact on the people around him that withing a few short years 500 souls were willing to sacrifice themselves for his cause.
Listen my friend, a lot of other prophets had as great or even greater impact on the populous of the time.............. they just didn't make it for the long haul.
And If you want to use deaths of adherents as your main yardstick then Jim Jones has got Christ beat by about 2 to 1!
Tomorrow.... why the 18 TERRORIST in Toronto got arrested for playing "Paintball!"

Fitna, Not-na!
There is a U.S. Internet service provider called Network Solutions that has just banned a Dutch film called "Fitna" because it goes against their "fair use" policy!
It claims the film advocates violence because it quotes passages of the Quran that sanctions the use of war and terrorism to promote and spread Islam.
Even though the film itself was not shown yet, but rather had a notice that it was coming, there was so much of an uproar from the Muslim community that the web-site was closed down by Network Solutions.
We can't even call this "Political Correctness" because terrorist organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah and Al-Qaida have, or have had, sites on Network Solutions.
There is something rotten in Denmark (or in this case, the Netherlands!) as the old saying goes, and I'm not talking about just political cartoons here.
This might help explain the controversy better!
A lot of people are cancelling their subscriptions to Network Solutions because they gave in to radical Islamists............. and I don't blame them!
The main problem with Islam right now is that when radicals commit autrocities there is barely a murmour from the Muslim community at large, but if something seems to slight or denigrate THEM, then there is a great uproar and kerfufle including such extreme reactions as death threats and calls for revenge for damage to their "honor!"
Fitna will be on other sites by this weekend so let's see what happens!

Thank God for Middle-Age!
This is a repeat of an article I wrote about a year ago!
Thank God for Middle-Age
My wife spent three years in Saudi Arabia in the 1980's and from her observations I can surmise that the average Muslim in the Middle East is poor, uneducated, family oriented and extremely religious. We are not talking about the middle-class or the elite here but just the average Joe,
- or Ali.
The guy on the street in the Middle East (remeber women in Saudi and many other places are not allowed to go anywhere on their own!) has a distorted view of the world because of assholes like this; He explains the difference between men and women.
The Matawah, (religious police) on the other hand are usually young men in their teens or early twenties who do this more for the sake of being in positions of authority than out of any religious conviction.
They might best be described as thugs and hooligans who revel in terrorizing the average person on the street. When passing them it is wise to avert your eyes and look down so you do not incur their wrath, after all they can throw you in jail for any reason and frequently do so.
(Believe me you don't want to be in a Saudi jail. It's about the same as a Turkish jail and for anyone who has seen the movie "Midnight Express" you know what I mean)
As for the terrorists themselves I came across some fascinating information. According to Marc Sageman, a man with the unusual background of a CIA case officer and then a psychiatrist, he had some interesting observations in his book Understanding Terror Networks.
Sageman argues that we are facing something closer to a cult network than an organized global adversary! Like many cults, Muslim terrorists thrive by channeling and perverting the idealism of young people.
As a forensic psychiatrist, he analyzed data on about 400 Jihadists. He found that they weren't poor desperate sociopaths, but rather restless young men who were frustrated by the lack of opportunities in their own country and found identity by joining the terrorist underground.
In fact, ninety percent came from normal intact two parent families, 65 percent had gone to college, 75 percent were either professionals or semi-professionals, and 75 percent were married.
(They see the riches of the people in the United States that is portrayed in the media - and then hate them because they do not have the same opportunities in their countries!)
What transformed these young Sunni Muslim men was the fellowship of Jihad and the militant role models they found in people like Osama bin Laden. The terror training camps in Afghanistan were considered a kind of elite finishing school.
The 9/11 hijackers weren't psychotic killers. In fact none of them had a criminal record! Sageman went on to say that in terms of their psychological profiles, they were as healthy as the general population.
Now here comes the interesting part. The implications of Sageman's analysis is that the Sunni Jihadism of al-Qaida and its spin-off groups is a generational phenomenon.
Unless new grievances spawn new recruits, it will gradually die out as their members mature.
Thank God for Middle-Age!

America's secret weapon in war on terrorists! Complacency!
Five years after settling in southern California and trying to blend into American society, a six-man terrorist cell connected to the militant Islamist organization Army of Martyrs has reportedly grown too complacent to conduct its suicide mission, an attack on the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.
According to cell leader and boat owner Jameel al-Sharif, the potentially devastating operation, which involves breaching the station's reactor core and triggering a meltdown that could rival the Chernobyl disaster, "can wait."
"We remain wholly committed to the destruction of America, the Great Satan," al-Sharif said. "But now is not a good time for us.
Three of the six terrorists spend an afternoon together watching an America's Next Top Model marathon and they also said that the season finale of Lost was such a cliff-hanger that they have to at least catch the first episode of the new season.
After that, though, death to the infidels."
"Probably," added al-Sharif, who noted that his nearly $6,000 in credit-card debt from recent purchases of a 52-inch HDTV and a backyard gas grill prevents him from buying needed materials for the attack.
Though the members of the cell said that they "live only to spill the blood of crusaders who oppress Muslims," they cited additional reasons for the delay, including an unexpired free Netflix trial and nagging lower-back pain.
"I think I'm entitled to a little time to fully enjoy the in-dash MP3 adapter and heads-up display that Allah, in His infinite wisdom, has seen fit to provide me with," munitions expert Mohammed Akram said of the 2006 Mercury Mariner that is intended to be used as a car bomb during the attack. "Also, I have nine months left on the lease. But after that, I am more than willing to load it with explosives and go to my glory in its all-leather interior and heated seats."
Cell member Sayyid al-Tantawi, a Cairo-born former physics professor who was able to obtain employment at San Onofre as a reactor technician, once routinely worked 18-hour days so he could secretly obtain security codes and detailed schematics of the facility. But since his promotion to senior project manager last November, al-Tantawi has grown accustomed to perks such as higher pay, mandatory vacation time, delegation of responsibilities, and long lunches with other managers.
"Don't get me wrong, I totally wish swift and painful death to all American pigs, especially that jerk [general manager] Dave [Landis]," al-Tantawi said. "But I'm no longer the new guy—why bust my ass all day long anymore? When I get home after a day at work, I don't savor staying up all night designing dirty-bomb triggering mechanisms like I did when I first got here. Sometimes I just want to pop in a CD by that soulful infidel Chris Daughtry and relax."
Al-Tantawi added that due to the sedentary nature of his job, he would have to "lose a few pounds, Allah willing" before being able to fulfill his most challenging task: infiltrating the reactor's spent fuel storage area and draining its coolant, thereby triggering a fire and releasing radioactive material.
Indeed, general preparedness appears to be the cell's greatest stumbling block.
"Five a.m. is when the facility is most vulnerable to attack, when the morning shift security personnel replace the overnight crew," said Adib Dhakwan, the cell's second-in-command. "Unfortunately, Starbucks doesn't open until six, and I don't know about you, but if I don't have that first cup of coffee, forget it."
Despite the terrorists' successful assimilation into American society, the FBI has been monitoring the activities of the "San Clemente Six" since late 2005. According to declassified intelligence documents, the cell's status was recently downgraded to "low risk," due in part to a near absence of cell phone chatter to parties other than Moviefone, and last month's online purchase of a hammock.

It's my party and I'll terrorise who I want to!
Dozens of veiled women gathered outside the Old Bailey last weekend to protest against the jail sentences given to four Muslim men for encouraging terrorism.
Mizanur Rahman, 24, Umran Javed, 27, and Abdul Muhid, 25, were each jailed for six years for inciting murder and racial hatred during a demonstration against cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. A fourth man, 32-year-old Abdul Saleem, was cleared of soliciting murder but convicted of inciting racial hatred. He was jailed for four years.
Rahman had called for British soldiers to come home from Iraq in body bags, and Muhid chanted: “Bomb, bomb the UK.”
Outside the court, around 40 demonstrators - most hiding their faces - chanted and held placards. Among them were a gaggle of women in burkas, who held up a sign which read: “British police go to hell.”
Police officers stood by as the group were kept behind barriers across the road.
Judge Brian Barker, the Common Sergeant of London, told the four men their words had been designed to encourage murder and terrorism. He said: “No one is entitled to make perverted use of ideology to propagate destruction and death.”
The judge said the protest in February 2006 had been “threatening, hateful and uncompromising” and the four men had “whipped up a frenzy” and gone far beyond what was “acceptable and legal.”
The four were arrested after 300 protesters marched to the Danish Embassy in central London over a cartoon which they said was offensive to Islam.
The drawing, which depicted the Prophet Mohammed wearing a headdress shaped like a bomb, was one of several printed in a Danish newspaper.
It caused outrage in the Islamic world where images of Mohammed are forbidden.
Rahman, 24, of Palmers Green, North London, chanted to the crowd: “Oh Allah, we want to see another 9/11 in Iraq, another 9/11 in Denmark, another 9/11 in Spain, in France, all over Europe.”
Javed, from Birmingham, was recorded on video by the police shouting: “Bomb, bomb Denmark. Bomb, bomb U.S.A.” Muhid, of Whitechapel, East London, led a crowd in chanting “Bomb, bomb the UK.”
Saleem, of Poplar, East London, was heard to chant: “UK you will pay, 7/7 on its way” and “Europe you will pay with your blood.”
Judge Barker told the defendants they had subjected London’s multi-national citizens to a “barrage of hatred and intolerance, just months after the July 7 outrage.”
He added: “Freedoms of speech and assembly have long been jealously guarded by our laws. With freedom comes respect and responsibility - none of which was demonstrated by you. What you were part of was the complete opposite of peaceful protest.”

ASSHOLES OF THE WEEK!
I think we could safely make the Taliban assholes of the week first, and then Al-Qaeda the next week and then just keep switching back and forth.Just read a rather detailed report on Islamist militant groups this week and it seems their main purpose, (other than fighting amongst themselves) is to drive a wedge between Muslims and Non-Muslims.
I would have to say they are doing a fairly good job of it.
The real shame in all this would be the relationship with the vast majority of Muslims (not Islamists) that is suffering because they refuse to speak up about injustices carried out by these assholes. The latest example of this is that the two Germans kidnapped near Kabul in Afghanistan this week have been killed, a spokesman for the Taliban has said.
The spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, said the Taliban's demand that Germany withdraw its 3,000 troops in Afghanistan had been ignored.
Local police said the Germans, whose identity has not been revealed, were seized with six Afghan colleagues on Wednesday in Wardak province where they had been working on a dam project.
On an even more serious note there a about 20 South Korean women who were kidnapped as well and the ferocious, manly, righteous, favourites of God have threatened to put them in the town square and stone them to death.
These guys take people who volunteer to go to Afghanistan to help re-build the country, and try to drive them out so that they can impose their own brand of Islamic extremism on the population again.
These half-assed measures the West is taking are nothing more than a joke. There are only two possibilities to be followed in the Middle-East.
The first would be a real and concerted effort by all neighbouring powers to go in "en-masse" and clean things up in the Middle East or just cut and run and get the hell out of there.
Of course, everyone is too "chicken-shit" to really get the job done properly so it's too bad they have all that oil, otherwise the U.S. would just let the bastards sort themselves out!
If that's possible.

WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!
I'm not sure if I have all my facts straight, but let me give it a try!
If the aim of a group Terrorists is to de-stabilize an area to get rid of someone, (like the U.S.) then perhaps they can accomplish their objectives with the use of terror to make the region unappealing to the occupiers.
If, one the other hand, the aim of terror is to overthrow an existing governing body (i.e. the Christian West or a local secular Government) then the thinking is totally wrong and absurd.
If the Muslim fundamentalists hope to achieve worldwide, or even regional implementation of their ideals and policies (Islamic Fundamentalism) through terror, then unless they have greater military power than the existing government they are seriously deluded.
(Of course how can you expect rational thought from someone who is willing to blow themselves up for a cause!)
Islamic fundamentalism will not be implemented through terror, rather the opposite will occur. The people who are being terrorized will eventually rise up and destroy the reactionaries and unfortunately everyone around them.
The policy is self defeating in the long run you idiots!!!
So there you have it, boys and girls, one of "Allan's simple rules of Politics and Religion!"
"You can't convert someone by punching them in the nose!"

It's about time!
A leading Muslim organisation today condemned the barbarity of the failed car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow as it called on its faithful to provide “all the necessary support” to prevent terrorism.
Dr. Muhammad Abdul Bari, secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), said it was the “Islamic duty” not only to utterly and totally condemn such actions, but to provide all the support necessary to prevent such atrocities from taking place in the future.
(Islam / Islamism - Islamism is a totalitarian ideology adhered to by Muslim extremists, e.g. the Taliban, Wahhabis, Hamas and Osama bin Laden. It is considered to be a distortion of Islam. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Bari, secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), said it was the “Islamic duty” not only to utterly and totally condemn such actions, but to provide all the support necessary to prevent such atrocities from taking place in the future.“The events of the past few days have been very disturbing and challenging ones for all of us,” he told a news conference at the MCB offices in east London.
“At the very outset we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the police officers and security experts who were tasked with removing the threat from the explosive devices in London and Glasgow."

Not all Arabs are Muslims, and not all Muslims are Arabs. The terms are not interchangeable.)
“It looks sadly as if the terror threat currently facing our country will be with us for some time to come. So let us be absolutely clear about this, that those who seek to deliberately kill or maim innocent people are the enemies of all of us."
“There is no cause whatsoever that could possibly justify such barbarity."
“Those who engage in such murderous actions and those that provide support for them are the enemies of all, Muslims and non Muslims, and they stand against our shared values in the UK.”
Dr Abdul Bari said in his statement that the police and security services had the “enormous responsibility” for trying to ensure the safety of all Britons.

Hamas 'Mickey Mouse' Wants Islam Takeover
Guest Post by Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook
The Hamas Television is using a clone of Disney’s Mickey Mouse to teach children to hate Israel and America, and aspire to Islam’s inevitable and impending world domination.
The squeaky-voiced Mickey Mouse lookalike, Farfur, is the star of a weekly children’s program called Tomorrow’s Pioneers on the official Hamas TV station (Al-Aqsa TV). ]
The effectiveness of this program is heightened by including child viewers, who phone in to the show and recite poems with images of hate and violence; for example, “We will destroy the chair of the despots, so they will taste the flame of death;” and, "Rafah sings ‘Oh, oh.’ Its answer is an AK-47. We who do not know fear, we are the predators of the forest."
It is unclear what screening process, if any, is used in the selection of the poems to be recited. Either the themes are selected by the screeners, which reinforces the hate orientation of the program, or they are the initiative of the children and parents, which demonstrates the great success of the show's hate messages.

(As of Wednesday May 9, the Palestinian Minister of Information has announced that the T.V. station has been ordered to take the program off the air. "Children's programs should be for children and politics has no business being inserted and used as propaganda," he said!)

]Farfur and his co-host, a young girl named Saraa’, teach children about such things as the importance of the daily prayers and drinking milk, while taking every opportunity to indoctrinate young viewers with teachings of Islamic supremacy, hatred of Israel and the US and support of "resistance" – the Palestinian euphemism for terror.
Farfur tells children that they must pray in the mosque five times a day until there is “world leadership under Islamic leadership.” The earnest and soft-spoken Saraa’ explains that the nucleus of this world Islamic leadership will be from “all of Palestine,” i.e., including Israel. Farfur refers to Israel as “the oppressive invading Zionist occupation,” which the children must "resist."
In a religious warning that is striking, considering the young age of the target audience, Saraa’ announces that after death, the children will have to answer to Allah for what they did or did not do for the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, and for Palestinian prisoners:
“I remind you that Al-Aqsa and the prisoners are a responsibility on our shoulders, and Allah will ask us on Resurrection Day what we gave for their sake.”
The writing in this show is quite sophisticated. Farfur's performance is unquestionably funny and entertaining, as is the character’s comic timing. For example, as he rhymes off a list of world figures, he chirps: “We will win, Bush! We will win, Condoleezza! We will win, Sharon!” Then, without missing a beat, he quips, “Ah, Sharon is dead” (sic), reinforcing his message that the plan for world domination is progressing.
Using a character based on an appealing, world famous and beloved icon like Mickey Mouse to teach Islamic supremacy and resistance as Islamic duty is a powerful and effective way to indoctrinate children.
Twenty First Century Witch Hunt!
Guest Post; Tim Wieclawski
How to conduct a witch hunt:
1. Assume guilt at the moment of accusation.
2. Apply any pressures necessary, including torture, to get a confession and to accuse others.
3. Accept any incriminating evidence, no matter how dubious or vague.
4. Ignore testimony or evidence inconvenient to your version of the truth.
5. Create or employ false evidence if necessary to convict.
6. Threaten anyone speaking in favour of a defendant as a suspected accessory.
7. Treat the accused as if he has no human rights because he is so dangerous.
8. Accept secret accusations, to protect the accuser.
9. Take a tip-of-the-iceberg approach, assume there is more and search and expand the hunt for others.
10. Justify and excuse all errors by appeals to national security, the good of the state or the protection of society.

In his new book Witch Hunts, From Salem to Guantanamo Bay, Ottawa writer Robert Rapley argues that the case of Maher Arar fits all the characteristics of a modern-day witch hunt.
Rapley, a retired civil servant, didn't intend to write a current events book when he began four years ago, but he couldn't help noticing the similarities between his subject matter and the psychological climate of North America.
The paranoia and fear that followed the 2001 World Trade Centre attacks, and the sweeping powers provided to authorities by the PATRIOT Act, created an ideal climate for a modern-day witch hunt, Rapley says. He cautions that another terrorist attack could lead to great danger for average citizens.
For Rapley, one such average citizen is Canadian Maher Arar.
In a high-profile saga that began in September 2002, Arar was arrested while en route to Ottawa after vacationing in Tunisia.
DEPORTED TO SYRIA
After 19 days in custody in New York, unable to secure a lawyer and barely allowed to communicate with his family, Arar was deported to Syria, where he endured a year of torture in prison.
Authorities didn't tell him why they were sending him to Syria, only that they "knew" he was a terrorist -- an allegation to which he confessed only after being beaten and threatened with worse torture.
Without that confession, the only evidence authorities had to incriminate Arar was that he had been seen talking to Abdullah Almalki, who authorities were investigating in connection with an al-Qaida support network in Ottawa.
STILL ON 'NO FLY' LIST
American officials also stated that multiple international intelligence agencies had linked him to terrorist activities, but that's as much as they have ever said. In fact, despite overwhelming evidence pointing to his innocence, Arar is still on a U.S. "no fly" list.
Rapley uses early witch hunts -- such as those in Wurzburg and Bamburg in 1626 when 278 people were put to death as witches -- to illustrate the 10 characteristics of a witch hunt.
At that time, people genuinely believed in witches and were terrified of the devil.
People were easily caught in a climate of fear, so when witches were blamed, the hunt was on.
Rapley emphasizes that a witch hunt is a state of mind.
It's not a hunt for a witch, but a single-minded, inexorable quest to convict the accused regardless of the facts.
In the western world today there is a great amount of fear, according to Rapley.
And, he says, after the World Trade Centre attacks, some fear is justified, but much of it has been fostered by President George W. Bush, his administration and the media.
Rapley is most concerned with the antiterrorism PATRIOT Act -- a 342-page document that was passed within six weeks of the Sept. 11 attacks.
He believes much of the document was produced before the event. Though he writes that it was essential and a logical response to the attack, he argues that parts of it went too far in providing the government with powers that threaten the individual freedoms of its citizens.
He also takes issue with some presidential decisions, such as the creation of a special category of prisoner called "enemy combatants" who can be held in prisons outside the U.S., tried by military tribunal and sentenced to death.
Enemy combatants have no appeal to the American justice system, and they can be held indefinitely without charge.
Rapley says these new methods of treatment allow for actions outside the Geneva convention and are considered by many to be torture.
Our main worry right now, he says, is that we're creating a climate conducive to witch hunts. The way things are going, if we had another trigger event, we could all be in great danger.
"What I suggest is that terrorism will be an issue for a long time, possibly 50 years or more. You have to get used to that, and act against it while still being careful not to create a situation where we give up our personal freedoms," he said in an interview.
INFRINGED ON FREEDOMS
In 2003, then-attorney general John Ashcroft circulated a 87-page document entitled The Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003, commonly known as PATRIOT II Act.
However, public support for the war was shifting, so discussion on the act was muted. It was put on the shelf, ready to go after the next attack.
The entire act is available online, for anyone to read.
In it Rapley sees threats to freedom of association; arbitrary wiretaps; genetic sampling and cataloguing without consent; and the unrestricted exchange of highly confidential information between federal, state and local law enforcement agencies --something that was prohibited after the McCarthy Trials.
The point Rapley wants to make with his book is that after the Sept. 11 attacks, people were so afraid and so shocked that they overwhelmingly supported a bill that severely infringed on their personal freedoms.
Now there's another bill on the shelf that would take it much further and Rapley suggests it's time to examine our counter-terrorism measures because emotions were far too high to do it reasonably after an event like Sept. 11.

Survey Says!
Well, this is the time of year where there seems to be an awards show every week and a new poll every day.
I found a few interesting facts about Muslims in Canada from a new Environics poll conducted in association with the CBC.
A much larger proportion of Canadian Muslims are satisfied with the way things are going today in Canada than is the case in Europe.
More than 80 per cent of Canada's roughly 700,000 Muslims are broadly satisfied with their lives here and only a very small percentage - 17 per cent - feel that many or most Canadians are hostile toward their religion.
The proportion is greater even than the 61 per cent of Canadians who generally feel their lives are on the right track.
In general terms, the poll found that 73 per cent of Canadian Muslims describe themselves as "very proud" to be called Canadians, even if many of them see their religion as coming first in certain instances.
As well, they have very little sympathy for extremists or terrorist groups and they aren't crazy about the northern climate,
-it tops the list of things they like least.
Now comes the interesting part! Asked about the arrests last summer of the 18 Muslim men and boys who were allegedly plotting terrorist attacks in southern Ontario, 73 per cent of the Muslim respondents said these attacks were not at all justified and 82 per cent said they had no sympathy for those who wanted to carry them out.
O.K. That means 27 percent felt there was some justification for the terrorists and 18 percent had some sympathy for the perpetaraitors. Why isn't it 0%
Now I realise that these small percentages are probably accounted for by the under thirty crowd, but just the same it is worrying!
These figures seems to suggest about the same numbers as for other ethnic groups over the years, except for the one disturbing aspect of some sympathy and support for terrorist ambitions.
This alone should justify any concerns about the Muslim community!

Now I realise that these small percentages are probably accounted for by the under thirty crowd, but just the same it is worrying!
Almost half (49 per cent) of the general Canadian population feel new immigrants should blend in with the rest of the country, while 40 per cent feel they should be encouraged to maintain their religious and cultural practices.
The differences are more pronounced when it comes to women: 81 per cent of non-Muslim Canadians feel ethnic minorities should adapt to mainstream Canadian beliefs about the rights and roles of women, whereas only 36 per cent of Canadian Muslims feel that way, the poll suggests.
A majority of the Muslim respondents (53 per cent) would also like to see Islamic Sharia law adopted for divorce and other family disputes, and a much larger number, 86 per cent, of Canadian Muslims do not feel governments should ban the wearing of headscarves by Muslim women in public, including public schools.
Many of these concerns are more strongly backed by young Muslims under 30, the survey suggests, and Haideh Moghissi, a York University sociologist who has worked extensively in this area, says these should probably be seen as more of a "political gesture than a religious one" by those who have felt their community "bearing the brunt of this suspicion and fear" since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
In fact, almost 60 per cent of Muslim women do not wear any kind of covering on a regular basis, the survey found. And 72 per cent of the respondents said they were not too worried or not worried at all about Muslim women taking on more modern roles in Canadian society.
These figures seems to suggest about the same numbers as for other ethnic groups over the years, except for the one disturbing aspect of some sympathy and support for terrorist ambitions.
This alone should justify any concerns about the Muslim community!

Bombs Away!
If you think it can't happen, think again!
A statement has been released by authorities in the ex-Soviet republic of Georgia.
Aided by the CIA, they set up a sting operation last summer that led to the arrest of a Russian man who tried to sell a small amount of nuclear-bomb grade uranium from a plastic bag in his inside jacket pocket, officials said. (Did he think he was selling watches?)
The arrest underscored concerns about the possibility of militants acquiring nuclear bomb-making material on the black market, although there was no suggestion that happened in this particular case.
"Given the serious consequences of the detonation of an improvised nuclear explosive device, even small numbers of incidents involving HEU [highly enriched uranium] or plutonium are of very high concern," said Melissa Fleming of the world's nuclear watchdog, the United Nation's International Atomic Energy Agency.
Details of the investigation, which also involved the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Energy Department, were provided to the media by U.S. officials and Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili.
Authorities say they do not know how the man acquired the nuclear material or whether his claims of access to much larger quantities were true. He and three Georgian accomplices are in Georgian custody and not co-operating with investigators.
According to his account, during an investigation in South Ossetia, a Georgian undercover agent posing as a rich foreign buyer made contact with the Russian seller in North Ossetia, which is part of Russia.
The man was arrested and sentenced to eight to 10 years in prison on smuggling charges. His accomplices were sentenced on lesser charges.
Russian authorities took a sample of the material but failed to offer any assistance despite requests for help from the Georgians, Merabishvili said.
Georgian attempts to trace the nuclear material since the arrest and confirm whether the man had access to larger quantities have foundered due to a lack of co-operation from Russia. (Russia has tense relations with Georgia, which has been troubled by Russia's support for separatists in two breakaway Georgian border regions, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.)
Merabishvili said that he was revealing the story out of frustration with Russia's response and the need to illustrate the dangers of a breakdown in security co-operation in the region.
A message left with the press office of the Russian Embassy was not returned. A duty officer at the Russian Foreign Ministry told the Associated Press that there was no one authorized to comment on Wednesday night.
The Georgians then asked for U.S. assistance. Agents from the FBI and the Energy Department took the material back to the United States, where it was tested by the Energy Department's National Nuclear Security Administration.
"The material was analyzed by agency nuclear experts and confirmed to be highly enriched uranium," said Bryan Wilkes, a spokesman for the agency.
None of the U.S. officials would confirm the exact weight of the seizure or its quality, but Merabishvili said it was about 100 grams of uranium enriched by more than 90 per cent.
Uranium enriched at 90 per cent is weapons grade but the quantity was not nearly enough for an actual bomb. (They would need about 100X as much!)
The Central Intelligence Agency declined to comment on the case. FBI spokesman Richard Kolko confirmed that the FBI was involved in the investigation and called it a success, but he would not provide further details either.

Oh no you don't!
The "no-fly" list in the States is getting ever longer but the people on it are wondering what's going on! Lots of people with names like "John Smith" and "Mary Smith" and "Robert Johnson," while some foreign heads of state are even included by mistake. Also - 14 of the 9/11 hijackers are included even though they are dead!
Just so you know!
Your perplexed scribe;
Allan W Janssen
Even worse, because the gargantuan lists have to be widely circulated, the CIA won't allow the names of actual terrorist suspects to be added to them -- in other words, the No Fly lists..........are you ready for it?........... Here it comes!......Only contains the names of people who aren't under any serious suspicion.
Just so you know!

Thank God for Middle-Age
My wife spent three years in Saudi Arabia in the 1980's and from her observations I can surmise that the average Muslim in the Middle East is poor, uneducated, family oriented and extremely religious. We are not talking about the middle-class or the elite here but just the average Joe, - or Ali.
The guy on the street in the Middle East (remeber women in Saudi and many other places are not allowed to go anywhere on their own!) has a distorted view of the world because of assholes like this; He explains the difference between men and women.
www.youtube.com/watch
